Patent infringement Bajaj Vs TVS
Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

Intellectual property as an asset has become crucial factor in acquiring larger market shares where technology and appearance rule the roost such as the two-wheeler market.

It is a general business practice to be aware of competitors' moves and to track down their tactics to garner larger market share.

The bone of contention is the patent on DTSi, related to manufacturing of most Bajaj bikes.
The claim of Bajaj Auto is that the technology specification of the TVS Motors recently launched motorbike, Flame, is infringing its patent credit for the digital twin spark ignition [DTSi] technology, which uses two spark plugs for better fuel efficiency and lower emissions.
TVS, India's third-biggest motorcycle manufacturer, has been told to stop selling its new 125cc Flame model by the Indian Supreme Court until a patent dispute with Bajaj - the country's second-largest bike producer - is resolved.
Bajaj alleges that TVS has ripped off its patented digital twin spark ignition (DTS-i) system for the Flame and has been pursuing an infringement action in the Madras High Court.
